Introducing Our New Arabica Ijen Volcano Lot — Limited Availability
We are proud to launch a new premium micro-lot from the Ijen Plateau in East Java — a rare high-altitude Arabica with exceptional sweetness, vibrant acidity, and a distinctly volcanic terroir character.
We are delighted to announce the availability of our first dedicated Arabica Ijen micro-lot offering for the 2025 crop year. Grown on the volcanic slopes of the Ijen Plateau in Banyuwangi, East Java, at elevations between 1,000 and 1,800 meters above sea level, this extraordinary coffee represents some of the most exciting specialty material currently available from Indonesia.
About the Ijen Origin
The Ijen Plateau is an active volcanic complex in the eastern tip of Java. The unique geology of the area — rich in volcanic minerals from centuries of eruptions — combined with the high-altitude cool temperatures and distinct wet and dry seasons, creates a growing environment that produces Arabica coffee of remarkable character and complexity.
Unlike the better-known Arabica origins of Sumatra and Aceh, Ijen Arabica tends toward a cleaner, sweeter cup profile with brighter acidity — a consequence of both terroir and the full-wash and honey processing methods we use to highlight the bean's natural quality.
Cupping Notes
Our internal Q Grader evaluations of the current lot scored it at 84.5 points, with the following profile noted:
- Aroma: Jasmine, stone fruit, brown sugar
- Flavor: Peach, apricot, dark cherry, milk chocolate
- Acidity: Bright, malic, well-structured
- Body: Medium-full, smooth, clean
- Finish: Long, sweet, pleasant
