Indonesian Green Coffee Exports Rise 18% in Q1 2025
Strong demand from European and East Asian markets drives significant growth in Indonesian specialty coffee exports this quarter. PT Solid Aroma Mandiri reports record shipment volumes to Belgium, Netherlands, and Japan.
Indonesia's green coffee export sector recorded an impressive 18% growth in Q1 2025 compared to the same period last year, driven by surging demand from European specialty roasters and East Asian coffee chains. PT Solid Aroma Mandiri played a significant role in this milestone, shipping record volumes to key partners in Belgium, the Netherlands, and Japan.
Strong European Demand
Belgium and the Netherlands have emerged as the two fastest-growing destinations for Indonesian specialty Arabica. Both markets are experiencing a wave of third-wave coffee culture, with specialty roasters increasingly seeking traceable, single-origin green beans from high-altitude Indonesian growing regions such as Gayo and Mandheling.
Our Grade 1 Arabica Gayo lots were particularly well-received, with buyers citing the beans' clean, bright acidity and fruity complexity as a perfect match for light-roast specialty profiles that have become popular among European café consumers.
Asia-Pacific Momentum
Japan remains one of our most important markets in the Asia-Pacific region. The Japanese specialty coffee market is known for its exacting standards, and our consistent quality, rigorous sorting, and careful moisture management have made PT Solid Aroma Mandiri a trusted supplier for several leading Japanese roasters and coffee importers.
In Q1 2025, Japan-bound shipments increased by over 22% year-on-year, reflecting both deepened existing relationships and new partnerships established at the Japan International Coffee & Tea Fair in late 2024.
Outlook for the Rest of 2025
Looking ahead, we anticipate continued strong demand driven by global coffee consumption growth, an increasing premiumisation trend, and Indonesia's growing reputation as a source of both specialty Arabica and premium Robusta. We are actively expanding our sourcing network in Lampung and Sumatra to ensure sufficient supply to meet growing order volumes without compromising quality.
PT Solid Aroma Mandiri remains committed to its core promise: delivering consistently high-quality, export-ready Indonesian green coffee beans to international buyers with reliability, transparency, and care.
